Free, and there is no account to make. Git comes bundled inside, so there is nothing to install first.

before you download

Windows will try to stop you.

When you run the installer, Windows shows a blue box saying it protected your PC. Click More info, then Run anyway.

Nothing is wrong. That box appears because Chintu is not code-signed, and a signing certificate runs a few hundred dollars a year. I would rather that money went into the app right now. It will get signed once that stops being a trade.

The installer is served straight from the public releases page, so you can always check where the file came from before you run it.

What you need

On Windows, nothing. Chintu ships with its own copy of Git, so you do not have to install Git, set a username, or pick a credential helper before you save anything.

On a Mac, Chintu uses the copy of Git that comes with macOS. If that Mac has never been used for coding before, the first time Chintu reaches for Git, macOS will offer to install its developer tools. Say yes — it is a one-time thing, it is Apple’s own installer, and Chintu will carry on once it finishes.

You will sign in to GitHub once, inside the app. Your token is stored encrypted by the operating system and never written to disk in plain text.
